This is an IC base for 40 Pin IC's. This is used as a place holder for the 40 pin IC chips and is used in order to allow safe removal and insertion of IC chips because IC chips may become damaged from heat due to soldering.This base is very useful for your circuit because if your IC burns out you can easily change the IC without the need of desoldering.
